Established in the Müntzthal valley, in Moselle, since 1586, the Saint-Louis manufacture began its journey in the world of glassmaking as a Royal Glassworks before dedicating itself exclusively to crystal craftsmanship. Here, expertise is worth its weight in gold.

History speaks of a Royal Glassworks of Saint-Louis renowned for creating classic glassware and window glass in wood-fired furnaces.

It was officially appointed to the rank of "Royal Glassworks" following letters patent issued by King Louis XV in 1767 and quickly established itself as the benchmark house throughout Europe.

Encouraged by the king, the house reached a decisive turning point when the former director of the Royal Glassworks of Saint-Louis, "Mr. de Beaufort," discovered the composition of crystal. His ambition was to succeed in creating the finest and most transparent glass possible—a technique that only England mastered at the time.

The fact that the crystal works was established in a strategic location in the Bitche region, with the surrounding forest providing the fuel necessary for the furnaces to operate effectively, also enabled the development of these revolutionary and complex techniques.
