Louis Poulsen · after Vilhelm Lauritzen · Glass. Vilhelm Lauritzen is the Danish architect behind the Copenhagen Radio House (Radiohuset, 1945), one of the great works of Scandinavian functionalism. VL Ring Crown 1 echoes that same economy of means: a unique glass ring that diffuses a homogeneous light with no visible hot spots. The wall lamp can be installed alone or in pairs on either side of a mirror or opening, in a living room as well as an entrance.
Rollo Studio · 3D-printed quartz sand. Rollo Studio 3D-prints its luminaires from quartz sand, an additive process that sets a mineral texture similar to a dune - hence the name of its collection. Sun VXS8 is installed as an object in its own right more than as a simple light source: the relief of the material catches raking light and changes appearance depending on the time of day.
Artemide · Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina · Aluminum, adjustable head. Tolomeo is one of the most copied lighting families in Italian design since its launch in the late 1980s. The Faretto version adopts the articulated arm and adjustable head for wall use: ideal for a reading light or to focus precise lighting on a painting, without the ambient compromise of the shade versions.
Louis Poulsen · Vilhelm Lauritzen · Blown opal glass, stamped aluminum. The same Lauritzen heritage, but in a closed housing: the blown opal glass envelops the source and the stamped aluminum structures the body. The result is a diffuse light, without glare, designed for a hallway, a stairwell, or a living room where you want clarity without dazzle.
Louis Poulsen · Poul Henningsen · Three superimposed shades. Poul Henningsen presented his three-concentric-shade system at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, where it received a gold medal. The principle has not changed for a century: each shade redirects a fraction of the bulb's light to eliminate direct glare. PH 3/2 is the wall-mounted version, with the same visual signature as the PH pendants in the same family.
Artemide · Michele De Lucchi · Blown opal glass. Dioscuri mounts on the wall or ceiling in four diameters (from Ø 14 cm to Ø 42 cm), making it one of the most modular wall lamps in our selection. The blown opal glass diffuses a broad light with no marked direction - a relevant choice for a bathroom or a hallway that lacks ceiling lights.
Produzione Privata · De Lucchi & Nason · Blown glass. Produzione Privata is the label that Michele De Lucchi founded for more experimental pieces than his production at Artemide. Perseo Parete is a good example: a blown glass pebble, marked with concentric lines, designed as much for a residential interior as for a professional space.
Produzione Privata · Michele De Lucchi · Flame-blown borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is flame-blown, a craft technique that leaves intentional irregularities in the material. Ipy Parete is available in a cone or hemisphere: two volumes that change the direction of the light projected on the wall, to be chosen according to the desired effect.
Tom Dixon · Hand-hammered brass, gold interior. Tom Dixon's Beat collection is inspired by traditional hand-hammered water vessels from northern India. The brass shade of Beat Wall retains this irregular texture; the matte black version selected here absorbs ambient light and focuses attention on the golden halo projected on the wall. A dimmer is integrated.
Louis Poulsen · Arne Jacobsen · Die-cast aluminum. Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ lamp in 1957 for the complete interior design of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, inaugurated in 1960 - one of the foundational projects of modern Danish design. AJ 50 is its outdoor variant, launched for the collection's fiftieth anniversary: IP65, IK06, integrated 3000 K LED for 428 lumens. Enough to equip a facade or terrace without sacrificing the original design.
Artemide · Ross Lovegrove (2009) · Cast aluminum. Ross Lovegrove modeled the Droplet Mini reflector from the interference of digitally simulated waves - hence this appearance of frozen "liquid aluminum." Two light pebbles house the LEDs and project their flux onto this reflector, which redistributes it while keeping the source out of the field of view: 29 W, 2700 K, 1168 lumens, CRI 90.
Louis Poulsen · LK, early 20th century · Cast aluminum, polycarbonate. Skot was developed at the very beginning of the 20th century by the Danish company LK (Lauritz Knudsen) for ships and port areas, before becoming commonplace in other environments thanks to its compactness. Its LED version, launched in 2012, retains the original IP66 rating and IK10 impact resistance - a level of protection superior to the common IP65, designed for sea spray and high-pressure washing.
Artemide · Klaus Begasse (2013) · Aluminum, methacrylate. Cuneo is a marker wall lamp: compact profile, wall or floor mounting, oriented upwards or downwards. The die-cast aluminum body, closed by a prismatic methacrylate screen, is designed to punctuate a path or a facade outdoors, in IP65.
Louis Poulsen · Christian Flindt · Cast aluminum. Christian Flindt worked on the shape of this wall lamp through digital modeling and 3D printing before the final metal casting, to obtain a light ring that seems to float in front of the wall. Available in three diameters (Ø 200, 300, 400 mm) and in IP65, CRI 90 - which makes it usable both indoors and in sheltered outdoor areas.

The choice depends less on aesthetics than on the intended use on the wall: an object that structures a room through its presence, or a tool that directs light toward a specific task. A living room wall lamp most often falls into the first category; a reading light or an outdoor site light, the second.
These pieces function more as an illuminated decorative object than as a point light source. They are suitable for a living room, an entrance, or a bedroom where you are looking for accent lighting rather than primary lighting.
Here, form follows function: adjustable arm, diffuser calculated to eliminate glare, or sealed housing for outdoors. These are the wall lamps to prioritize for a reading nook, a staircase, or a facade.
Two schools dominate this selection, and they are distinguished by their method more than by their appearance: the Italian workshop works with blown glass and the mechanics of the articulated arm, while the Danish workshop calculates the diffusion curve to eliminate glare.
Michele De Lucchi features throughout much of this selection: a historical designer for Artemide since the 1980s (with Giancarlo Fassina for Tolomeo Faretto), he also founded his own label, Produzione Privata, for small-batch pieces - Perseo Parete and Ipy Parete originate from there, both crafted in blown glass by Italian master glassmakers.
Alongside him, Ross Lovegrove designed the 2009 Droplet Mini, an exercise in digital modeling applied to metal, and Klaus Begasse designed the 2013 Cuneo, an outdoor marker light intended for the city rather than as a collector's item. The common thread: Italian manufacturing and a quasi-artisanal relationship with the material - hand-blown glass, die-cast aluminum.
Louis Poulsen occupies half of this selection, and for good reason: the Danish firm has built its catalog on collaborations with figures of Nordic functionalism. Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ lamp in 1957 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen; the AJ 50 uses its design in an outdoor version. Poul Henningsen invented the three-shade system in 1925 that bears his initials - the PH 3/2 is its wall-mounted application. Vilhelm Lauritzen, architect of the Danish Radio House, inspired both the VL Ring Crown 1 and the VL Studio. Finally, the LK firm by Lauritz Knudsen developed Skot at the beginning of the 20th century for ships, and Christian Flindt designed a more recent piece, Flindt, designed from the outset for both indoor and outdoor use.
This continuity explains why a French distributor of these collections highlights the history of the design just as much as the technical specifications: at Louis Poulsen as at Artemide, the form results from a precise calculation of diffusion, not an isolated decorative choice.

Droplet Mini annonce 1 168 lumens pour 29 W avec un IRC de 90 ; AJ 50 reste plus modeste avec 428 lumens pour 7,6 W, cohérent avec son usage d'appoint extérieur. Pour un éclairage principal de pièce, on cherche généralement plusieurs centaines de lumens par applique ; pour un simple point d'ambiance, une cinquantaine suffit.
