Pendant light designed in 1976 by Vico Magistretti for Oluce. Sonora illustrates a principle that the Milanese architect pursued throughout his career: the reduction to pure geometry. Its hemispherical dome, 90 cm in diameter, is made of blown PMMA, white on the outside and gold on the inside. The object is reduced to its primary form.

The light source is housed within the dome. It is reflected off the gilded interior surface, producing direct light that is reflected downwards in a warm tone without glare. 290 cm cable.

Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) was a major figure in post-war Italian design. He created some of his most iconic pieces for Oluce, foremost among them the Atollo (1977), which was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979. He counted Sonora among his own favorite lamps.
