Details

Designed in 1958 by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, the PH 5 extends the optical principle of the three-shade system developed by the designer as early as 1926. Its layered construction distributes light evenly and glare-free, ensuring optimal visual comfort above a table or reading area.

An icon of modern Danish design, the PH 5 illustrates the precision and coherence of a work where form follows function entirely. Present in the collections of the Designmuseum Danmark and the MoMA, it remains one of the most influential light fixtures of the 20th century and a centerpiece of the Louis Poulsen catalog for over sixty years.
