Designed in 1970 by Livio Castiglioni and Gianfranco Frattini for Artemide, Boalum is a flexible luminous tube made of reinforced translucent PVC, finished with resin end caps. Each element can be bent, coiled, hung, or placed on the floor/furniture, and connected in series for up to four modules. The light, diffused along its entire length, draws a continuous line — Domus described it as an "endless snake of light." Produced from 1970 to 1983, the lamp was slightly modified in 1999 and has now been reconstructed with high-efficiency LEDs, while maintaining its original construction logic.

Boalum is featured in the collections of the MoMA (New York), the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. This flexible PVC luminous tube forms a continuous body designed to be repeated and reconfigured according to the space and usage.
