The studio & its collections
Rollo Studio describes itself as an independent studio that produces its lighting using additive manufacturing. The studio operates from two locations: Carrer de Fray Francisco Cabezas in Valencia and Keizersgracht in Amsterdam.
For its quartz sand pieces, the company uses the Binder Jet Additive Manufacturing process. [1]
Sun / Aureole
Quartz sand · Wall lights
The Sun wall lights belong to Aureole, a collection inspired by the geometry of the heart of a sunflower. Rollo Studio draws on the tight arrangement of the small flowers to compose radiant reliefs, halfway between plant life and an almost extraterrestrial form.
3D printed in quartz sand, these pieces give light a texture to traverse. Hollows, folds, and protrusions create different rhythms from one model to another; their mineral surface enhances the presence of the relief. The wall light can thus be read as a wall object as much as a light fixture.
Our selection gathers the eight Sun VXS models in a black finish. Each reference offers its own composition based on this common inspiration. [2]
Collection U
Table lamps · Pendant lights · Wall light
U brings together Rollo Studio's lighting around a common vocabulary: curved modules, folded volumes, and glossy surfaces. The lines extend from one piece to another, whether as a column, a pendant, or a wall relief. Even when switched off, their contours catch the ambient light and give them a sculptural presence.
Once switched on, the details of the design take on a new relief. The U 021 lamp hides its source and reflects light on its ribbed interior surfaces. The U 044 pendant light deploys its modules along the table, while the U 013 wall light accompanies the wall with a graduated light. Depending on the model, the light highlights the joints, descends towards the furniture, or enlivens the hollows of the shape.
Each piece is 3D printed in plant-based PLA at the studio in Valencia, Spain, then sanded and painted. The glossy finish evokes the depth of glazed ceramic. Made to order, the collection comes in light shades and earthy tones that highlight its curves in different ways.
Before choosing
Material, light, and everyday use.
No. Their glossy appearance evokes glazed ceramic, but the U light fixtures are 3D printed in plant-based PLA, then sanded and painted. This distinction refers to the material: the Sun wall lights are made of quartz sand.
The U‑021 and U‑037 are listed at around 200 lm at 2,000 K: a very warm light for ambiance. The U‑016 and U‑018 go up to approximately 450 lm at 2,700 K. To choose a reading lamp, the luminous flux is not enough: also check the direction of the light and its position relative to the book.
The manufacturer's spec sheet lists the eight U light fixtures as dimmable, but does not specify the dimming protocol or compatible controls. This mention does not guarantee that they will work with your existing wall dimmer. Before ordering, confirm the type of control provided for the chosen reference and its compatibility with your installation.
For the eight U light fixtures in this selection, the manufacturer's spec sheet indicates a non-replaceable integrated LED: there is no bulb to unscrew or change. Before purchasing, ask what after-sales service solutions are available in the event of a failure. The mention "non-replaceable" does not, in itself, allow one to conclude that a repair is either available or impossible.
